30 Completely Fashionable Bob Hairstyles With Bangs

Who doesn’t love a bob haircut? Long, short, layered, textured — there is literally a beautiful bob out there for every face shape and hair type. Add a sweet set of bangs to the mix, and you’ve got one hot look! If you are looking for a fab new haircut, here are 30 sultry bob hairstyles with bangs to get you inspired.

  • #1 Blonde Pop

    Written by Sarah Nitz

This asymmetric bob cut with pops of bold blonde from underneath and across the side bangs is super trendy, but can easily be pulled off in any office!

    How To Style:

    1. Apply styling cream to damp hair and comb through to ensure even saturation.
    2. Blow dry hair using a flat brush. Make sure to direct the fringe off to chosen side.
    3. Once dry, use a flat iron set at the lowest heat setting for your hair type (360 degrees for color treated hair) to smooth the ends.
    4. If needed, apply a small amount of styling cream or oil to smooth hair.

    Recommended Products:

A great smoothing cream won’t weigh your hair down, but helps to smooth and soften it with a light hold.  My favorite is Pravana’s Model Behavior.

Best Face Shape and Hair Type:

Confident beauties with a heart shaped face wear this look best, while hair that is medium to fine in thickness and straight to wavy will make it easy to style.

    Tip:

If blonde doesn’t pop enough for you, try any of the colors of the rainbow! Violet, blue, pink, teal, or any pastel or neon shade could work with this cut and style as well.

  • #2 As Good as Gold

    Written by Sarah Nitz

A buttery golden blonde creates a bold yet soft look that is great for fairer skin tones. Paired with blunt bangs and a bob, the look is a total showstopper.

Style by Flonnie Westbrook, Elon Salon, Marietta, GA

    How To Style:

    1. Apply a medium hold gel to damp hair.
    2. Blow dry hair using a large round brush or flat brush, smoothing ends under as you dry.
    3. If needed, use a flat iron to smooth out any ends and the bangs.
    4. Apply a smoothing oil to finish look.

    Recommended Products:

Try Biolage Agave Nectar Control Gel. It gives a soft, touchable hold and controls frizz.

Best Face Shape and Hair Type:

Heart, diamond and oval face shapes look great in this blunt bob, while hair that is medium in density and naturally straight will make it easiest to recreate this look.

    Tip:

Less is more with professional styling products. Always start off with less product and add more if needed rather than ending up with too much and making your hair harder to style.

  • #3 Wispy Fringe

    Written by Sarah Nitz

A soft, wispy fringe takes the edge off this bright blonde look.

    How To Style:

    1. While hair is still damp, apply a medium hold gel mixed with a texturizing cream.

    3. Mist dry hair with a texture spray.
    4. Use a flat iron to give different pieces a blunt look, including the bangs.
    5. Using a paste, pinch your ends and give separation to layers.

Best Face Shape and Hair Type:

Any face shape can wear this bold look, while hair that is medium to thick in texture and naturally straight is easiest to recreate this look.

    Recommended Products:

I am obsessed with Pravana’s Lived In Powder Potion. It gives the most amazing texture and volume.  Apply in your hands and work slightly to transform it into a light pomade. As you apply the product, it goes back to a fine powder and never gets gritty on the scalp.

  • #23 Ruby Red

    Written by DJ Victory

Without a doubt, this beautiful bob is an attention getter. With the ruby red lowlights strategically placed in the fringe and around her face, this softly layered bob is a stunner.

    How To Style:

    1. Starting with clean, wet hair, apply a root lifter in the crown to give some volume. Then apply a smoothing serum starting at the ends. This will help speed up drying time as well as prevent frizz when drying.
    2. Blow dry in sections starting at the bottom. Use a small paddle brush for the bottom part of the hair, using the curve of your head as your guide. By pulling your hair from side to side as you are drying, you will achieve the straightness at the bottom without the volume
    3. As you move up, start to use a small to medium size round brush. Take the round brush and pull sections of the hair from the root out. This will give you volume as well as smooth the hair.
    4. When hair is completely, dry take a dime-sized amount of polishing cream, emulsify into your hands and run it through your hair to add definition and shine.
    5. Top off this beautiful style with a lightweight hairspray.

    Recommended Products:

You will see that I will recommend a lot of Aquage products because they WORK!  For volume, use their Uplifting Foam. The smoothing serum I use on almost everyone is Silkening Oil. Finish off with their Detailing Creme and Finishing Spray.

Best Face Shape and Hair Type:

This is such a versatile style for every face shape. I would recommend this type of cut and style for normal to fine hair because it will add volume and movement.

    Tip:

Ask your stylist to place red lowlights throughout your hair. To put the focus on bringing out your eyes, have them concentrate the placement a little heavier in the fringe and around your face.

  • #24 Peek-A-Boo Baby

    Written by DJ Victory

The compliments won’t stop with these peek-a-boo bangs! With the blunt edges, cut out fringe and warm coppery hue, you are sure to exude confidence.

Peek a Boo Asymmetric Bangs With Bob Hairstyle

    Style by Krista Feiste

    How To Style:

    1. Apply a quarter-sized amount of straightening gel to damp, towel dried hair.
    2. Using a small to medium paddle brush, begin drying your hair, starting with the bangs.
    3. Brush and blow dry bangs forward. If you have any cowlicks in the front I recommend taking the brush and moving your bangs back in forth in the opposite direction as you dry. This will help get that “bump” out of the bang and help them to lay smooth.
    4. After hair is 100% dry, use your flat iron to seal the cuticle and get that sexy, glossy look.
    5. Starting with small sections at the bottom, use a heat protecting spray. Spray about six inches away from hair. You do not want to saturate the strand.
    6. Run your flat iron from roots to ends, going over each section no more than two times. You don’t want to burn or damage your hair!
    7. When done smoothing the hair, finish with a lightweight pomade to add definition.

    Recommended Products:

Paul Mitchell’s Straight Works is ideal for this style. The best heat protectant spray I have ever used is Aquage’s Beyond Shine. It’s ultra lightweight so it does not leave a greasy residue on your hair. Pravana’s Detail Shine & Define is an excellent pomade to smooth flyaways and add definition to this sharp cut.

Best Face Shape and Hair Type:

This style is suitable for round and oval face shapes. Any hair type could rock this cut and style. It can add weight to thin, fine hair or minimize weight from thick, course hair.

    Tip:

Let your stylist know that you want your bangs cut at an angle. Going from short to long, have the bangs start out short right above your brow, gradually getting longer on the other side.

    How To Style:

    1. Add approximately a quarter-sized amount of thickening lotion throughout clean, damp hair.
    2. Comb through to distribute product evenly.
    3. Using a small paddle brush, blow dry bangs forward. Do this before you begin to dry the rest of your hair. This will prevent your bangs from separating.
    4. Continue drying the rest of your hair with a large paddle brush, keeping the heat from the dryer going down the hair strands. I recommend using a concentrator on the end of your hair dryer. Many professional hair dryers come with them and they help with the air flow so that if kept in the same direction as the hair, it will ensure a smoother more polished look.
    5. Once hair is completely dry, smooth down any flyaways with a flat iron and a mist of light hairspray.

    Recommended Products:

Paul Mitchell’s Thicken Up will help plump up the cuticle giving you that thick, luscious hair that we all crave.  When you need a light and flexible hairspray, you can’t go wrong with Aquage’s Finishing Spray.

Best Face Shape and Hair Type:

This amazing style works best on round, oval and heart shaped faces. All hair types work with this cut and style.

    Tip:

When asking your stylist for this cut, ask for long layers that are cut blunt on the ends and softly textured bangs.

    How To Style:

    1. While hair is still damp, apply a volumizing spray at the roots.
    2. Blow dry using a medium sized round brush.
    3. Section hair off. Starting off at the bottom, roll hair under with the round brush while drying.
    4. Take a large section from the bang area and roll it back towards the crown with the round brush while drying. This will give it that nice, subtle flip in the front without making it look like a curl.
    5. Finish off with a medium hold hairspray.

    Recommended Products:

Aveda’s Volumizing Tonic and Brilliant Medium Hold Spray are excellent tools to help you to achieve this style. I love the ceramic round brushes by Cricket. They don’t snag or pull the hair and give a nice polished look.

Best Face Shape and Hair Type:

This style is perfect for all face shapes and hair types.

    Tip:

Ask your stylist for a chin-length bob with long layers. For the fringe, ask for a longer side-swept bang. If you love the color shining through in the bang, ask for a few peek-a-boo pieces of whatever color you desire!

  • #27 Pastel Princess

    Written by DJ Victory

This pastel blonde is icing on the cake. It turns this basic bob and bangs combo into a serious show stopper!

    How To Style:

    1. Apply a straightening cream to clean, damp hair.
    2. Blow dry with a small to medium size paddle brush.
    3. Once hair is completely dry, you can run a smoothing iron through to tame any stray hairs.
    4. Use a dime-sized amount of a very lightweight pomade throughout hair to add detail and shine.

    Recommended Products:

I love Biomega’s BeHave for a smoothing elixir. It has a creamy consistency, smells beautiful and smooths the cuticle for a straight, silky finish. To add shine and separation to the hair, use Biomega’s Text Me. It’s pliable, lightweight and very easy to work with.

Best Face Shape and Hair Type:

This cut and style works best for round and oval face shapes. If you have fine or thin hair, this cut will help give you the fullness you desire.

    Tip:

Ask your stylist for a blunt cut with a small amount of layering at the bottom.

  • #28 Cleopatra-“esque”

    Written by DJ Victory

Cleopatra wore this bold, blunt bob and she was the Queen of Egypt! Be the queen of your castle with this dazzling haircut.

    How To Style:

    1. Apply a smoothing serum to clean, damp hair.
    2. Blow dry (using a directional nozzle) with a smoothing brush. Start with the bangs and work your way through the rest of your hair.
    3. After hair is completely dry, take small sections starting in the back and run your flat iron through from roots to ends. Make sure to apply a heat protectant before flat ironing. The goal is to get hair as smooth as possible.
    4. Run a small amount of smoothing serum on the top layer of hair. This will tame flyaways and give you a beautiful, glossy finish.

    Recommended Products:

Moroccan Oil is the only product you need for this beauty. It’s a great product that can be used on both wet and dry hair. A boar bristle flat brush is a perfect smoothing brush and Denman makes a great one.

Best Face Shape and Hair Type:

This particular length of bob is fab for oval, long  and square shaped faces. The look also works great with all hair types.

    Tip:

Just tell your stylist that you want to look like the Queen of Egypt!

    How To Style:

    1. Apply a root lifter to clean, damp hair.
    2. Part off the bang area starting at the left temple (or right temple) and blow dry bangs forward. This will allow the bangs to fall softly across the forehead.
    3. Continue drying hair with a small to medium round brush.
    4. Run the smoothing iron over any areas that need it.
    5. Finish off with a small amount of pomade.

    Recommended Products:

Biomega’s Up All Night will give you the lift and movement you need for this style. Aquage’s Transforming Paste is a combination of hairspray polymers and pomade. It gives you the hold of a hairspray, yet the definition and separation of a pomade.

Best Face Shape and Hair Type:

This cut and style is great for all face shapes. Normal to thick hair would work best for this cut and style.

    Tip:

For this tapered bob, ask your stylist for shorter layers and a heavier bang.

  • #30 Curly Girly

    Written by DJ Victory

This multi toned curly girl bob is hot to trot. The full, fab fringe will draw direct attention to those gorgeous eyes.

    How To Style:

    1. Apply a generous amount of texturizing spray to clean, damp hair.
    2. Blow dry bangs forward with a small paddle brush.
    3. Blow dry the rest of the hair using your fingers.
    4. Once hair is completely dry, take a one-inch curling iron and curl small pieces of hair in random directions.
    5. After hair is curled, use a dime-sized amount of pomade and run fingers through hair to break up the curls. This will give it a more random, organic look.
    6. Spritz hair with hairspray.

    Recommended Products:

Use Aquage’s Sea Salt Texturizing spray while hair is damp. To break up the curls, I would recommend using Paul Mitchell’s Wax Works.

Best Face Shape and Hair Type:

This cut and style looks great on round, oval and square shaped faces. All hair types can wear this.

    Tip:

Ask your stylist for short layers with a very heavy bang. As far as the color, ask for the base color to be a vibrant red. Let your stylist know that you want some dimension and ask for different shades of red to be foiled throughout.

First things first, find an amazing stylist that you feel comfortable with. Communication is key when explaining what you want out of your haircut. Schedule regular trims and color touch-ups to maintain your gorgeous style. Also, use professional products on your hair. You possibly just spent hundreds of dollars on a brand new cut and color…spend the extra 40 or 50 dollars to keep it looking that way!
