  • Square Layered Pixie

Q&A with Style Creator Stacey Shuler-Abdella

Master Stylist @ Voodoo Hair in Canada

How would you describe this look and what’s your favorite thing about it?

This is a disconnected, square layer pixie with a long asymmetrical fringe. I love the fun and feminine vibe this look gives. It is a short sexy cut with serious sass!

Which products would you recommend to help create and maintain this look?

To create this look, use KMS Add Volume Styling Foam for wet styling, Blow dry high volume into the top and low volume on the sides and back. After blow dry styling is complete, add KMS Hair Play Dry Wax to the hair and work it through to enhance the texture. Finish the look and make it last with KMS Hair Stay Medium Hold Spray.

What type of person would this look work best for?

This look is great for many women in today’s busy world. If you are a fashion forward lady on the go that wants a versatile and stylish look, this haircut will suit you.

It is ideal for medium to course textured hair that is straight or has a slight wave. The cut can be customized to work with every face shape.

What’s your best tip for someone who’s considering this look?

Make sure to find a stylist that has experience with short haircuts and ask for their advice on versatile styling tips. Always consider getting the products your stylist uses to create your look. It is hard to recreate your look without the right tools!

  • Short and Sweet Pixie

Q&A with style creator Elena Gatzios

Stylist @ Hair by Elena G, Central Florida

How would you describe this look and what’s your favorite thing about it?

This is a trendy, fashion-forward pixie that is easy to wear year round. My absolute favorite thing about this look is that it’s very versatile. It can be worn so many different ways and each style looks like a different haircut!

Which products would you recommend to help create and maintain this look?

For added volume and longer lasting hold, I recommend using AG-Foam on damp hair. After blow drying, I like AG-Texture Gloss for texture, placement and definition. Finally, finish a look like this with AG-High and Dry hairspray for lasting hold.

What type of person would this look work best for?

This haircut is fantastic with any texture of hair, but looks best if the hair is on the medium to thick side. Dimensional color enhances the best features of this cut. You can do bold colors with this cut, but I would be careful of placement. If not put in the right place, bold colors could throw the whole look off.

What’s your best tip for someone who’s considering this look?

Feel comfortable in your own skin, because this short haircut exposes a good portion of your face and neck. To keep this style looking its best, you need to head to the salon every four to six weeks for maintenance.

  • Textured Inverted Bob

Q&A with style creator, Phuong Tran

Stylist @ Sukis in Vancouver, BC

How would you describe this cut and color and what’s your favorite thing about it?

This cut is a textured asymmetric inverted bob. I love how playful it can be when it’s styled curly! The color features multidimensional highlights in warm toffee and caramel tones.

Which products would you recommend to help create and maintain this look?

My favorite product to achieve this textured curly look is a L’Oréal professional product called Next Day Hair. It is a mineral texture spray with a little bit of hold so it gives the hair some grip, volume and an effortless look.

What type of person would this look work well with?

This look would be great on anyone wanting a flexible style that has the potential for being playful. When styled smooth it can look more classic and sleek, whereas if styled curly and textured, it looks more edgy.

How could someone recreate this style at home?

    1. Apply  L’Oréal Professional Full Volume Mousse to damp hair.

    2. Use your fingers to pull the hair up as you blow dry the root. Let the hair cool for a few seconds before you let it hair drop to achieve more volume.

    3. Once the hair is dry, use a 1-inch curling iron to curl one-inch sections, alternating curl directions as you go.

    4. Finish with L’Oréal Professional Next Day Hair texture spray and run your hands through to create a perfectly disheveled look.

Try Aquage Silk Oil for softness and shine and Kenra hairspray for light hold.

Even though this is a timeless and fairly universally flattering look, the wearer should be confident and comfortable wearing short hair.

    1. Throughly towel dry hair.

    2. Add hair oil from mid lengths to ends.
