I used Wella’s Illuminacolor for the color, and for styling I used a big wand. Before drying, I always use a shine cream and a few drops of oil.

I think this color is good for those who need color but want to look “uncolored”.
What is your best tip in regards to recreating/maintaining this color/style?
Use the large Cerawand to curl, let the hair cool, brush it carefully, then finish with a shine spray. I just used the wand a little bit on her ends. She doesn’t like her hair curled, but not totally straight either.

How would you describe this look and what’s your favorite thing about it?
This is a dimensional bronde, the perfect alternative to all over blonde in the winter. My favorite thing about it is that it’s lower maintenance than your standard rooted blonde, but still packs a punch with dimensional highlights and paneled lowlights throughout. It’s very wearable during the drab winter months.
Which products would you recommend for this look?
I usually prep the hair with a heat protectant like Revlon’s Uniq1 Spray and follow with a blow dry aid like Just Blow from Peter Coppola. Depending on how well my client’s hair holds curl, I might use a working hairspray while curling, and I always finish with a glossy shine spray like Revlon’s Glamourama or AG Firewall.
Which skin tones and hair types can pull off this color/style combo best?
I think this color works best on people with neutral tones in their skin, as well as on people whose hair is naturally within two shades of the end result. The color and style are very well suited to finer hair because the placement of the lowlights under the brighter highlights adds some depth to hair that can otherwise look flat otherwise. The soft wave also creates the illusion of fuller hair that still looks touchable.
What is your best tip in regards to recreating/maintaining this color/style?
Because this look is on the ashier side, maintaining the color with regular toning or glossing treatments in salon is important. I also recommend a purple-toned shampoo for at home maintenance to all my lightened or blonde clients to keep brassiness out. Regular maintenance in the salon and at home will keep the color looking fresh and ensure that the tones don’t become washed out and drab.

How would you describe this look and what’s your favorite thing about it?
This is a soft golden look with pops of honey blonde. I love that this look is season-friendly. It’s light for the spring and summer seasons, but still has some of that richness for fall and winter.
Which products would you recommend for this look?
As far as color goes, I definitely love Schwarzkopf’s golden and beige tones which are used in this look. Their -4 series never fails to impress. To style the hair I used UNITE hair products. I love all of their products because they’re not heavy on the hair at all, allowing me to give clients a light and bouncy look.
Which skin tones and hair types can pull off this color/style combo best?
The look is versatile and anyone between light to mid-brown tones can rock this look. As far as hair types, I would say straight, wavy and curly types can pull this look off. The trick is the placement of the lighter pieces for each of these hair types.
What is your best tip in regards to recreating/maintaining this color/style?
My best tip in recreating this color is to analyze what undertones and color the client already has. We don’t want to add more gold on top of red or auburn tones because it will make it too warm. This is a soft gold which means the gold is controlled.
As far as the style, I used a Hot Tools 1-inch curling iron to create waves. To maintain the look, make sure the client takes care of your work at home. Using sulfate-free shampoos and conditioners (like UNITE) will prolong the life of the color in between visits. Also when I do retouches, I not only do the base but I make sure to use a toner at the bowl to give the hair an over all refreshed look with some shine.

This is a romantic and naturally soft look. What I love most about it is the color texture within her hair. The tones all blend so well, giving maximum shine and dimension to her fine hair. I’m a lover and proud stocker of MoroccanOil and EVO. Every time I start a blow dry, the MoroccanOil Light Oil Treatment is added for moisture infusion, for speeding up drying time, and for that added heat protection which is so very important.
I am also a lover of the MoroccanOil Volumizing Mousse. This product gives the softest of body, but holds beautifully for that “naturally” styled hair. To finish, I just cannot go without my EVO Miss Malleable Hairspray for that finished soft hold. Lastly, I love EVO Love Touch Shine Spray for shine and gloss. Warning, it smells so good you might want to eat it!

This color is best suited for cooler skin tones because the color really makes those skin tones glow. Warmer skin tones may be too much for the skin and clash. It is best suited hair for this style that is fine in thickness and medium in length. Too much hair thickness will make your finished look even more bigger and thicker and you wouldn’t get those intricate and detailed ends.
What is your best tip in regards to recreating/maintaining this color/style?
Visit the salon every six weeks for touch up maintenance as hairstyles/hair colors loose their shape and color hue if left much longer than that. Also, a home care regime is ultra important in maintaining your salon colored hair in its best condition.

My favorite thing about this look is how natural it is. I was lucky enough for her to have virgin hair, so I got to play a little bit! I would describe this look truly as sun-kissed hair because of how natural it looks.

Because she wanted to have something subtle but enough of a change that it would be noticeable, I did not have to use a toner. That being said, I believe just a sulfate-free shampoo would help maintain the color until her next visit. As far as styling products go, she has straight/wavy hair and doesn’t do any styling usually, so just a leave-in conditioner would be best for her.
What type of client would you recommend this look for?
This look would best for someone who is very low maintenance and doesn’t come to the salon very often. I believe a balayage like this only needs to be done once or twice a year, so this would be perfect for someone who has a busy lifestyle and cannot commit to coming to the salon as frequently.
As far as hair type goes, this style could be perfect for curly, straight, short or long hair. It works for pretty much anyone! The color of this specific hairstyle would look best on someone with fair to neutral skin, but because the balayage is subtle. However, as long as you match the same tone as what the natural hair already is, then it should work for anyone!

This look is super casual, like I didn’t try too hard. I wanted it to look like the client born with this color. I love how seamless her blend is and that she isn’t overly lifted on her ends. It just looks more believable. We all don’t need to be level 3,000 on our ends!
What products do you recommend to create and maintain this look?x/div>
Redken’s pH Bonder is a non-negotiable in my lighteners (I used Free Hand Lightener here). It protects the integrity of the the hair during the lifting process, while creating a soft and sunny transition. I finish all my colors out with a Shade EQ Gloss. It makes everything pretty and imparts intense shine and conditioning.
I worked from her natural color so her lightening service only needs to be touched up once or twice a year. I recomend a Shades EQ Gloss Service every 8 to 12 weeks to provide shine and to keep the color from pulling too brassy or becoming dull.
PH Bonder has a third step that I retail to upkeep results at home. Redken’s Color Extend Magnetics and Exreme are my go-to lines to provide necessary moisture and proteins after a color service. I especially recommend Extreme Length Sealer and Primer for all my girls and guys who want to be light on their ends and grow or maintain mermaid lengths. They’ve saved my own hair!
What type of client would you recommend this look for?
This look is one of my most requested looks behind the chair. It’s universally flattering on everyone. Generally haircuts with longer layers are easier to create this on. Look at some of your old pictures as a child or your own hair when you’ve been on vacation. The tones that are present naturally tend to be the easiest to achieve and maintain and look best on your skin tone. Her color is great for anyone, but it’s especially flattering on someone who has a warmer or olive skin tone. Just tweak the tones depending on your eye color and skin tone. There’s a blonde for everyone, just be patient with your colorist and have realistic expectations.

The products I would use to maintain this look would start with Strong Sexy Hair shampoo and conditioner. The Strong Sexy Hair line has mango butter that provides great nourishment for the hair and aloe vera to help stop breakage and keep the hair strong.
To style the hair when the hair is damp, I would use Big Sexy Hair Full Bloom whic is a thickening and volumizing spray. I also recommend Big Sexy Hair Big Altitude which is a lightweight mousse with a no-product feel, as well as Healthy Sexy Hair Soy Renewal Oil to help the health and shine of the hair.
