The ultimate cool babe look – beach waves are what you call any textured, loose, and effortless wavy hair that is anything but boring! The perfect mix of gritty and sexy strands make it one of the hottest hairstyles, not just during summer, but any time of the year.
No need to spend more than a few minutes to give your hair a sea-inspired look, as these breezy tresses do not need to be perfectly done. Go for a tousled, lazy, and casual style finished with a sea salt spray for an all-day texture, and that’s it! Your fingers are your best tools to create this California beach chick look. Simply run them down your strands to loosen and shake out your locks.
Feel and wear the cool ocean waves on your hair without needing to go on a summer vacay by simply recreating one of these trendsetting beachy waves hairstyles!

Shoulder Length Dirty Blonde Waves

How would you describe this look?
This is my idea of a California blonde. I created this with a balayage technique in order to give her a seamless blend and a “rooty” look so she doesn’t have to get this touched up every month. I love the contrast between the dark and blonde giving it the perfect amount of dimension, and the beach waves just show it off perfectly.
Any advice for someone considering it?
There is some maintenance to this color. I would recommend professional grade products. Purple shampoo is a must to hold on to that blonde intensity and keep out brassy tones. I recommend Redken Color Extend Blonde. For the beach wave style, I use a 1 1/2″ curling iron and I finish it up by breaking up the curls with Bumble and Bumble Brilliantine and spray it with some Kenra professional platinum dry texture spray.
Summer Balayage Waves

How would you describe this look?
I love that this is edgy and bold yet in certain lighting, it doesn’t appear as vibrant. The braid gives the whole style a softer appearance.
Any advice for someone considering it?
Be ready for the upkeep! This shade can/will turn green quickly if not taken care of properly. A direct dye in your shampoo/conditioner is a must.
No Heat Beach Waves

How would you describe this look?
Our philosophy and favorite thing to do is to always enhance natural beauty, so for this look, my goal was to encourage natural movement.
Chloe has thick hair with a natural wave, however, this movement was almost non-existent because it was too long and heavy, weighing the hair down.
To encourage these natural elements, I took some length away and used a slicing technique to shatter the line – not layering. This allows the weight to be lifted from the internal section, encouraging her natural movement and creating texture.
Any advice for someone considering it?
This is such a versatile look and can be recreated at any length, ideally for those with wave or movement.
For styling, I lightly massaged the OWAY Flux Potion through roots to lengths and continued to scrunch it in my hands while blow-drying. Once dried, I continued with GHD curve classic wave wand to create the undone, effortless look. Then a light mist of Urban Tribe 06.5 Sea Water Spray and a sprinkle of Urban Tribe 05.6 powder style to encourage texture and movement.
Chloe’s textured beach waves are the perfect synergy to her free-spirited, low maintenance lifestyle by the sea.
Wavy Short Bob
Q&A with style creator, Jen Lindley

How would you describe this look?
This look is wavy with a “barely there” texture. It’s messy and unrefined and looks best paired with a good makeup day and a cute outfit!
The cutest thing about this look is the volume I get when I simply flip it to one side with a heavy part and then pull the bangs forward to frame my face.
Any advice for someone considering it?
If you are considering this look, it’s best if you have medium to thick hair that your stylist can cut to a non-angled bob and then texturize a lot.
I used Puff Me volumizing powder by Design.Me, which conveniently comes in a pump to spray at the roots! Then Biolage Texturizing Styling Spray to give my hair the perfect amount of separation for this style!
Ash Blonde Lob with Waves

How would you describe this look?
This color is edgy and on trend while still being low maintenance! Loose waves accentuate the long textured layers which makes it the perfect style for this haircut.
Any advice for someone considering it?
Invest in a good purple shampoo! This will be a life saver and keep your blonde from becoming brassy. I personally love Fanola No Yellow shampoo. To get your hair blonde enough to show ash tones usually means bleach, so a deep conditioner with protein to help rebuild protein bonds once or twice a week is a must. Expect to rebook for about 6-8 weeks for a root touch-up or toner (or both) to maintain this color.

How would you describe this look?
This particular client only comes in for a cut every 3-4 months. She loves the way it grows out! The best thing about it is that it is versatile and easy to style.
Any advice for someone considering it?
I personally feel this can go for nearly any hair density and is flattering on most face shapes. This particular client has very thin fine hair, so we create extra weight at the ends with cutting the perimeter at graduation and keeping her layers minimal and at an angle that creates weight, not removes it.
It’s very easy to round brush for extra volume, straighten for sleekness or wave (as shown) for a lived in a look that will last for several days!
We styled this with Kevin.Murphy Body Builder for body and the illusion of more density, and Anti-Gravity for volume, grip, and heat protection. After curling, we finished with Bedroom Hair for some light messy texture!
