How would you describe this look?

This look is for someone who wants a low maintenance routine for styling!

Any advice for someone considering it?

Ideal for someone who can wake up and go for the day! Make sure you are open to change this haircut requires a volume, and this color is a fashion color so use color safe products to preserve the vibrancy.

Pixie Cut for Thin Hair

Q&A with style creator, Hannah Ramsey
Stylist @ Mirror & Mantel Salon in Philadelphia, PA

How would you describe this look?

This look is a fun, soft pixie. It could be played up to be more fun or played down for softness, all depending on the way you style it.

You can’t see too much in the photo but we added in some blue foils before to make her feel sassy for a few months. You could place a few foils of black lowlights as well to add some dimension.

Any advice for someone considering it?

Take into consideration the upkeep. This cut, in particular, can get out of shape on the neck very quickly, so make sure your salon offers neck trims in between haircut appointments. Because the color is her natural grey, it isn’t much upkeep at all. In fact, subtle lowlights and pops of color grow out really well.

The styling is super easy though! You can use really anything to style based on what you like. You can use clay, cream, mouse, volumizing spray, or even pomade!

Blunt Bob

Q&A with style creator, Stacey Brooks
Stylist @ Randolph’s Salon in Clarkston, MI

How would you describe this look?

This look is a blunt cropped bob. I love the sharp structure of this look and how it contrasts with a few soft pieces of texture.

A good haircut should always play nicely with the color which was equally fun to create. We created a seamless dimension with a few smartly placed highlights.

Any advice for someone considering it?

I’d recommend this look for clients with medium to thick hair. This client likes to wear it straight, smooth, and polished. But this look also works with natural waves or loosely curled with a curling iron.

You can customize this look with a fringe or a strong full one length front. Emphasis on full – the less texture and layers through here, the stronger the look.

This look is complimentary (in that it would help balance) oval, oblong, diamond, and heart face shapes. This look would exaggerate the width of a square, triangle, and round face shapes, which is beautiful for a bold look.

Short Stacked Bob

Q&A with style creator, Glauco Queiroz
Hair Artist @ Tramonto Salon in Curitiba, Brasil

How would you describe this look?

This is a classic, and the classics never go out of style. It’s a versatile hair where you have the choice to activate or not the texture. The graduation was worked according to the cranial structure from the occipital, bringing harmony to a triangular geometric shape.

Any advice for someone considering it?

You cannot go wrong with this style! Always remember that thermal protection for hair drying and a finisher as an ointment are always needed.

Layered Cut with Natural Grey Hair

Q&A with style creator, Geraldine Joz
Master Stylist @ Zaza Salon in Lincolnshire, IL

How would you describe this look?

Marian’s colorist colors her hair with highlights, and I love highlights to give fine hair that layered definition and texture.

Her style is classy and looks styled without looking like a helmet so to speak. Marianne has very fine straight hair so I try and make her texture fuller and thicker with the right products and my cutting technique. Her hair is light and airy with lots of fringes, angles, and layers. I layer her with even round layers and use point cutting to allow it to have lift and movement.

To style, I use Oribe Volume Spray comb through then blow dry focusing on roots and setting medium round brushes throughout. I spray and let cool then use Oribe Dry Texture spray all through the roots. I proceed to tease at the base of her hair, spray the teased part, let the spray dry, then use my fingers and a soft brush to design where I want her hair to stay.

When she does her hair at home, she uses a volume shampoo, a round brush for light teasing, and spray. She says it lays nice.

Any advice for someone considering it?

For fine hair types, I would advise layers and volume spray and texture sprays on the roots. I would recommend using a volume conditioner.

Fine hair should be blown in an upward motion to give lift. Use round brushes for optimal lift.

Face-Framing Cut with Glasses

Q&A with style creator, Sylvia York
Stylist @ Red Dahlia Salon in Senoia, GA

How would you describe this look?

This look could be described in many different ways. I think that this haircut is made for someone who needs a change. It is fun and stylish. A classic bob will always be my favorite, but putting your own little twist to it makes it even better.

The baby bangs are so fun! I wasn’t sure if she would let me do it, but when she said yes, I was thrilled! I’m a huge fan of bangs, just not on myself. Not only bangs, but it takes a special kind of person to wear baby bangs.

Styling a bob is very easy if cut correctly. She will round brush it if she wants but does not have to. When I cut a bob, I always cut it so that they can round brush it if they want, or air dry it with a little bit of salt spray to bring out some natural texture.

The best thing about this haircut is that it is so customizable and can be worn so many different ways. The awesome color is her own. She is gray-haired but has ended up using more purple shampoo (milkshake brand) to enhance her gray color and give it an overall purplish tint. Isn’t it fun?

Any advice for someone considering it?

When thinking about getting a bob, I would say that anyone could wear one! Bob is a great classic haircut that will never go out of style. Young or older women can both wear them. There are so many different bobs out there, so finding the right one depends on how you like to wear your hair.

In this case, she wanted something modern, but classic at the same time. A little bit of mousse from Bumble and Bumble and a round brush can go a long way with this look. Bouncy, fun, and stylish. If you have fine hair, bob is the perfect haircut for you because it appears to be thicker then it really may be.

Lots of added texture and layers can really help with volume to fake the appearance of thicker hair. If you’re someone who has a lot of hair, bob is still a great haircut for you! You just might need more layers and weight removal to make sure everything lays just how you want it.

Bobs are so great because anyone can customize it the way they like to wear there hair. You do not have to round brush a bob if you do not want. I have some guests who love to wear their bob with their own natural texture. That’s the best way in my opinion.

Bangs are just an added bonus. If you want to soften things around your face, bangs are great. Just make sure that if you commit to cutting them, you need to style them every time you do your hair or they will bother you.

Bob with bangs has moderate maintenance. Four weeks are usually how far out my guests book out when they have a bob. Usually, if it grows out any longer, the hair around the neck starts to bother you or your bangs are for sure way too long. If you are thinking of getting a bob, id say just do it!
